I have been seeing and eating tomatoes all my life. They always looked the same to me, except that sometimes they looked green (unripe ones, and even ripe ones of a different species). Only when we grew tomatoes in our balcony garden that I came to know that they came in different shapes. Perhaps the vendors removed such tomatoes from their wares so that people with superstitions would not be inhibited from buying those. Perhaps the phenomenon is not very common. Here are some pictures of our tomatoes.
Normal tomatoes.
Conjoined (fused twins) tomatoes with a beak: the top view is on the left, and the bottom view is on the right.
Heart shaped tomato: the front view is at the top, the back view is at the bottom.
Two colored tomato: the front view is at the top, the top view is at the bottom. Half the tomato is red, and the other half is green.
